The top of the parking area for the trail was shrouded in thick fog. Hiking was not going to happen here. I noted a small trail next to the parking area and I had to see where it went. It opened up into this ghostly forest view.
This is part of the Bear Wallow Trail near Hendersonville, N.C. This is one of the final approaches of an easy 3 mile ascent. I mean easy as in this is probably the steepest part. Once on top, there is a huge (acres and acres) of a flat meadow. From the top you can see the Smoky Mountains and surrounding areas.
