This is the Florida Scrub Jay which is listed as endangered. It is a privilege to see them first hand. We hope our efforts to save them are successful.
A juvenile heron poses for the camera. The ragged look makes it appear it just stepped out of a hurricane, but it's just young. It'll grow into those feathers.
At first sight, only a small head appeared. Then it fully broke the surface and showed off just how large it was. Glad I was on the path and not in the water!
