Pets

5am in the morning and there's a paw in your face; "I'm hungry". You sit down to read your favorite magazine and not 5 minutes later, a big furball decides that out of the entire house your magazine is the perfect place to lay down and then complains when you try to move them. For all of their quirks, pets are fun to have around. They see us at our best and worst, but don't tell a soul. Here's a few pix of some current and past furry friends.

 • Edmund-named after Sir Edmund Hillary. He loves to climb and explore & easily scales the 6ft fence as seen here.
To make his escape, he slides down the outside of the fence, face first and leaps horizontally just before crashing head first into the bushes. It's amazing to see him make that leap and never miss.

 • Amanda-the only cat who can climb out of the fence and then scale the outside of the fence to climb back in.

 • Tangi girl, a cat that had lots of energy and fun. A life cut short due to kidney failure at only 8 years old. Now my pets drink distilled water and eat better food.

 • I tell people Edmund is a BIG cat & here asleep next to the yardstick you can see just how big. Note his back feet aren't stretched out either. He likes to walk up to little kids and rub his tail in their face. They just laugh.
In spite of his size, he can easily scale the fence, leap off and chase things. I call him the Big E.:)

 • Created with an unusual pairing; a 2 year old Nikon D40 sporting a 28mm 1.4 lens that came from a Nikon FM film camera bought in 1973.
The 28mm pulled excellent detail in the low light. Amanda did a fine job of holding the studious pose.

 • Amanda likes to sit in the sink and drink from the tap. Here she is waiting for her water. There are bowls of water around, but I guess it tastes better from the source.

 • These are my first pictures with my new 70-300mm lens. The normal afternoon bird flyover was absent, so Edmund was my model. This is him running toward me. At 19 pounds, when he runs, you know it.
